LoNo's Low Carb 2400+ Recipe Database - For LOW CARB Dieters
June 24, 2004 -- With all the interest in Low Carb dieting, how many of us are able to make everyday recipes that not only fit the guidelines of our diet but are also appetizing?
Looking up the nutrient values of everything we put into our mouths is not only time consuming, but complicated as well. Most low carb meals can be created from inexpensive foods in a short amount of time but looking up the recipes in books or on the Internet can be a chore.
There is a shareware download program available on the Internet called ‘LoNo' that shows dieters how to do this. Even in its ‘free' or ‘Demo' mode, the user receives the following:
- unlimited access with user-friendly search capabilities to the entire USDA food ingredient database of over 6600 food ingredients merged with additional brands (like ATKINS products) with full search capability that lists up to 250 nutrient values for each ingredient.
- food ingredient ‘Glycemic Index' search capability
- plenty of ‘push button' and other live ‘online' links to just about any type of diet information needed including many major brand names
- limited access to a database of 2400+ low carb recipes
Recipes display nutrient listings per portion and total recipe for calories, carbs, fat, fiber, sodium, calcium, potassium, iron, protein and cholesterol.
The full program is downloadable with all information. In its 'demo' mode, only a portion of the recipes are available and recipes or ingredients cannot be altered or added - but all the above mentioned features are available. When purchased, all 2400+ recipes are available and new recipes can be added and edited.
This is an immense program but you get a lot of information. The compressed install is 21 megabytes in size that installs to almost 60 Mg. If you have Broadband or DSL, it downloads in a few minutes. If you are using a phone modem, expect a few hours of download time.
